It’s a berry good time for local Strawberries!

They’re back!  Strawberry season is here and sweeter than ever at our local Temecula Valley Strawberry Farm. Why Local Matters Strawberry Farm

My family loves the short trip to the “U-Pick” strawberry farm adventure, and of course the homemade strawberry jam and lemonade are nice perks too.  Not only do we love supporting our local farms and meeting our neighbors, like the Fietz family, the berries just taste better.

Why Local Matters Picking BerriesMy kids adore the farm and have so much fun scouting for and picking their own berries in the neat maze of “hydroponically-farmed” strawberries.  The earth-friendly hydroponic farming technique uses a whopping 85 percent less water than soil grown strawberries.  Since the plants grow straight-up in pots with triple-grind redwood bark instead of soil, less water is used, and soil borne pests, diseases, and the need for annual soil fumigation are eliminated.  The resulting berries are big, juicy and healthier for your family and the environment.
