Results of a $20 Shift

Why Local Matters is always looking for new and improved ways to turn our community focus toward shopping at local merchants. We are currently working very hard to increase the visibility of our small local businesses so as to make this easier.  I recently came across an organization that has a similar purpose as ours, and they provided me with a calculator that shows what a difference a $20 shift in our spending can make in the local community.

For example, in a little CA town such as Temecula or Murrieta, with an average of 100,000+ population, shifting just $20 of your monthly spending for a year to independent, locally owned businesses could result in a gain of over $13,000,000.00 back into our community. Even for a smaller city such as Salisbury, MD, with a population of just over 30,000, they could generate over $4,000,000.00 for their local community.

This is why local matters!!!!
